Pictures, text and video cannot express the emotions associated with this classic boss fight. I'm going to try nevertheless, though. Announced mere days ago, the idea that Onyxia will be revamped into a level 80 10 and 25 man raid has suddenly become reality with the return of PTR testing for patch 3.2.2. Everyone and their best mate is currently swarming Onyxia's Lair, determined to dispatch the Broodmother once more. This time for kicks and enhanced loot.

Her name is reverberating around the PTR right now. In fact, within three seconds of logging on with my premade I was asked if I wanted to join a 10-man raid to kick her scaly butt. Of course I accepted and found myself once more outside the scary gates of the Broodmother's lair. Let's me be straight about one thing, the only things which have been changed about this fight are the suped-up uber-trashkin and Onyxia herself. There's no need for a key or attunement, you just grab a raid and walk right on in. The cavern leading into her lair is the same as it ever was, except the trash now have the power to kick serious butt against level 80's wearing full epics. Such is the case, our group wiped the first time we pulled two of the dragonkin.

Onyxia at first appears the same as she ever did. She's snoozing happily in the middle of her lair, surrounded by lava and fire and all the elements you remember. Except her health is now 4880k. Yes, you read that right. I'm also convinced her model has been revamped. She seems a lot more sinuous and dangerous as she rampages around her lair, trying to squish anything in sight. The purple of her wings seems to contrast beautifully again her dark scales, her horns and head spikes look so much more defined and her deadly tail is, well, still deadly. Blizzard have clearly taken some time to ensure this anniversary encounter with the Lady of the Black Dragonflight is memorable.

The encounter itself runs exactly as you remember it, just with increased difficulty. The first time I ran Onyxia was the day the attunement was dropped and she wasn't exactly easy then. While the memory of the encounter hasn't faded, practical knowledge of her tactics is a different matter. Everyone in my group totally forgot about her legendary Flame Breath attack and we wiped on the first try. The second time, it was the dragon whelps. Trying to deal with two dozen whelps, a couple of dragonkin elites and a flying mother dragon ... well it's never going to end well.

Previously when I've done this encounter, the one thing which struck me was how bugged Onyxia was. She appeared to walk in mid-air without moving her legs or wings. She would sometimes stop for ten seconds as if lagged before unleashing vengeance. The refreshing part was that in this souped up encounter, this buggyness has been, for the most part, fixed. Not completely, of course, there was one fight in which she briefly froze but this is expected when you're playing on a PTR.

Perhaps the best thing is, there's nothing new. The tactics are just as you remember. She charges, you unleash hell. Eventually she takes wing, summoning a legion of whelps from eggs around her chamber or some dragonkin. As she flies back and forth, Onyxia spams fireballs and then does her Deep Breath attack, spewing fire that kills almost instantly. Then it's just a matter of rinse and repeat until phase three.

4880k health is definitely nothing to be sneered at. Onyxia is hard and we got her down to around 50% health several times before dying. The nice thing is the familiarity, rather than making raiders cocky, helps understand the fight but the increase in difficulty means this is definitely no longer a walk in the park.

Demmie Mon, 17 Aug 2009 14:57:46 -0000 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/301276 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/301276 Patch 3.2 Call of the crusade trailer
Posted 08/04/2009 02:27 PM by Demmie.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NsVVTXRTstk&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NsVVTXRTstk&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Demmie Tue, 04 Aug 2009 21:27:43 -0000 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/296523 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/296523 Emblem Changes
Posted 08/04/2009 11:46 AM by Demmie.

OK, every one is on the bandwagon talking about the emblem changes.

Before I get too far into this, I want to say I don’t have a very strong opinion about the whole mess.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, here’s what Blizz has up their sleeve:

Emblem System Changes

Both the 10 and 25-player instances of the Crusaders’ Coliseum drop a new Emblem of Triumph.
Any dungeons that previously dropped Emblems of Heroism or Valor, such as Naxxramas or Heroic Halls of Stone, will now drop Emblems of Conquest instead. Emblems of Conquest can still be converted to Valor or Heroism.
The Heroic dungeon daily quest will now reward 2 Emblems of Triumph and the normal daily dungeon quest will reward 1 Emblem of Conquest (updated per blue post).
The existing achievements to collect 1, 25, 50, etc. Emblems of Heroism, Valor, and Conquest have been converted to Feats of Strength since Heroism and Valor Emblems are no longer attainable.
New achievements have been added to collect various amounts of any combination of emblems.

So today:
Heroic 5-man = Emblems of Heroism
Daily Heroic = Emblems of Heroism
VoA 10 = Emblems of Heroism (Archavon only)
VoA 10 = EoV (Emalon only)
Naxx 10 = Emblems of Heroism
Naxx 25 = Emblems of Valor
Uld 10 = Emblems of Valor
VoA 25 = Emblems of Valor (Archavon only)
VoA 25 = Emblems of Conquest (Emalon only)
Uld 25 = Emblems of Conquest

The New emblem exchange is:
Emblems of Heroism = Tier 7/ilevel 200/heirloom items
Emblems of Valor = Tier 7.5/ilevel 213
Emblems of Conquest = Tier 8/ilevel 226

And from now on:
Heroic 5-man = Emblems of Conquest
Daily Normal = Emblems of Conquest
Daily Heroic = Emblems of Triumph
VoA 10 = Emblems of Conquest
Naxx 10 = Emblems of Conquest
Naxx 25 = Emblems of Conquest
Uld 10 = Emblems of Conquest
VoA 25 = Emblems of Conquest
Uld 25 = Emblems of Conquest
Coliseum 10 = Emblems of Triumph
Coliseum 25 = Emblems of Triumph

Emblem exchange should look like:
Emblems of Conquest = Tier 7 – Tier 8/ilevel 200 – 226/heirloom items
Emblems of Triumph = Tier 9/ilevel 232+
I think Blizz’s intention is to remove gear as the obstacle for people seeing content. Mind you, Naxx and Uld are going to be old content by the time this happens. (And let’s face it, this is from the PTR notes, this may never see the light of day.)

What seems to be the problem?

The problem is that a fresh 80 can run heroics until his fingers bleed (or be carried through them) and purchase some snazzy Tier 8 and possibly Tier 9 gear, without having to bother with that pesky Tier 7 or even ilevel 200 crap.

This not-quite-so-fresh anymore 80 (it will take many, many runs to get enough emblems to gear this way) could then enter LFG for the Coliseum.

A quick armory shows that he’s Ulduar-level geared, so he gets invited.

He then causes a massive wipe because he’s never cleared Naxx but he’s run Heroic Nexus every day for 3 months.

What is the real problem?

Evaluating a player’s gear will no longer be an effective method of determining skill.

But you know what?

It’s not effective today.

I’ve been in plenty of PuGs where people meet the gear requirements set by the raid leader and still die in the fire. Other players in greens and blues are blowing them out of the water.

Demmie Tue, 04 Aug 2009 18:46:27 -0000 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/296412 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/296412 NEW MOUNT CHANGES
Posted 08/04/2009 07:49 AM by Demmie.

Mount costs, level requirements, and speed changes

Blizzard has made major changes to when you can buy your mounts, and how much they cost when you do. All of the mounts nowl have their level requirements reduced: Regular land mounts will now train at level 20, epic land mounts are trainable at level 40, regular flying mounts can be trained at level 60, and epic flying can now be trained at level 70. This means that you'll be riding at an epic speed from level 40, and you'll be able to train flying mounts at level 60 (so you'll be able to ride around Outland with a flying mount from the first time you step in there. Here are the full details on all of the riding skills and their new costs.

Apprentice Riding (Skill 75)

60% land mount speed Requires level 20 Cost: 4 gold Mount cost: 1 gold Mail will be sent to players at level 20 guiding them to the riding trainer Journeyman Riding (Skill 150)

100% land mount speed Requires level 40 Cost: 50 gold Mount cost: 10 gold Mail will be sent to players at level 40 guiding them back to the riding trainer Expert Riding (Skill 225)

150% flying mount speed; 60% land mount speed Requires level 60 Cost: 600 gold (faction discounts now apply) Mount Cost: 50 gold Can now be learned in Honor Hold (Alliance) or Thrallmar (Horde) Artisan Riding (Skill 300)

280% flying mount speed; 100% land mount speed Requires level 70 Cost: 5,000 gold (faction discounts now apply) Mount Cost: 100 gold
Cold Weather Flying will remain unchanged, so you will still have to have your first character get to level 77 before training to fly in Northrend. However, the Tome of Cold Weather Flying will be able to be purchased at level 80, and will allow your alts, level 68 or higher on the same server and faction, to fly around Northrend as they level up. So you'll only have to level through Northrend on foot once.

Travel abilities for various classes (the Druid, Shaman, and Hunter travel forms, as well as the Paladin and Warlock mounts) have also had their stats adjusted. The various spells will be available at level 16, and the mounts will match regular mounts above in speed and level requirements.

As you can see, Blizzard has majorly streamlined travel time by mount. Additionally, they've lowered the casting time on both flying and ground mounts, from 3 seconds to 1.5 seconds. So it'll take you less time to get moving as well.

Demmie Tue, 04 Aug 2009 14:49:55 -0000 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/296291 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/296291 NEW HORDE ONLY MOUNT
Posted 08/04/2009 07:42 AM by Demmie.

It seems that if u go to Mor'vek in Un'goro Crater he will give you a daily quest to get splashed by ravesaur poison 20 times
Once that one's done, you get a ravasaur pet that gives you a daily quest.
Today, I got one to feed it 15 fresh dinosaur meat from various dinos in the crater.
Each daily gives you a raptor baby tooth.
20 baby raptor teeth, 20 runecloth, 20 rugged leather and 80g gets you the mount.
It seems that you only get splashed if you are HITTING the revasaurs. this could be a problem for high level toons I would suggest un-equiping your gear and bring a super low level weapon, since your unarmed will likely be high, you don't want to kill them off too fast, at least that's how its working on the PTR.

Demmie Tue, 04 Aug 2009 14:42:00 -0000 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/296285 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/296285 PATCH 3.2 IS LIVE
Posted 08/04/2009 04:45 AM by Demmie.

Here it is kids, Patch 3.2 is live today, and blizz has announced that the servers will be down longer than usual, till 11am Pacific is what the schedule says, Lots of changes with this one, lets hope today sfter the servers come up they will be more stable than they usually are on a major patch day, me, I can't wait to see the new Druid forms, Woot!
Demmie Tue, 04 Aug 2009 11:45:16 -0000 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/296223 http://angelsgrief.guildomatic.com/news/show/296223
Posted 08/03/2009 12:28 PM by Demmie.

OK so this isn't really WOW news but look up "project natal" videos on the net and I bet you'll be saying wow.

"Last month at E3, everyone was talking about "Project Natal", the code name for Microsoft's controller-less camera technology for the Xbox 360 game console.
